====== Restore windows MBR ====== Removing a linux installation and reinstalling windows often leads to problems, because the mbr (Master Boot Record) is not restored. Here are two methods to fix this: - Use Windows Install CD, start Emergency recovery console((Wiederherstellungskonsole)), run ''fixmbr'' - Use a bootable linux cd, e.g. Knoppix: ''sudo install-mbr /dev/hda'' Note: Use knoppix 5.x for system rescue, as knoppix 6 does not include the mbr package, so you have to install it first. {{tag>linux windows}} ~~LINKBACK~~ ~~DISCUSSION~~
