Recover disappeared Thunderbird Profile

Symptom: Thunderbird suddenly starts up with the profile wizard. If you cancel the wizard, your mail window is empty.

Possible reason: corrupted prefs.js file

  • Find your prefs.js file
  • Restore it from a backup
